Early estimates value the growing operation at over $1 million with slightly more than 800 plants discovered in a single-family home near Avenue A and 70th Street West. According to deputies on the scene, every room in the home had been converted into growing areas with lighting equipment, fertilizer and generators. There was also equipment at the scene that is used to make Hash Oil.
"An extremely sophisticated operation," Capt. Bob Jonsen said of the discovery. "Basically the whole house had been converted for the marijuana grow and all the technology that is available nowadays for individuals to do this. So, it was a very sophisticated operation. Today was the completion of an investigation by a patrol unit. The person was on probation and led deputies to a home where they discovered a marijuana grow. I have no doubt that this product would have made it to the streets of Lancaster and into the hands of our kids and our families."
A total of nine people have been placed under arrest in connection to the operation and all suspects will be facing charges of cultivation of marijuana, manufacturing narcotics and probation violation. As the investigation is still ongoing, additional charges may be added at a later date.
Those arrested were: Teresa Ornelas, 25; Daniel Ornelas, 26; Ayman Khalil, 33; Jack
Terastbadsadrian, 28; Aaron Sagnanert, 22; Derek Howard, 19; Christopher
Bailey, 22; and George Yakoub, 24.
