Round It Up America® is a program that Yard House is a part of that gives everyday Americans the opportunity to donate pocket change by rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar, allowing for small and potentially frequent giving. While the individual donations may be nominal, their collective sum is powerful. Round It Up America® aims to provide support to local non-profit agencies, such as food banks, homeless shelters and crisis relief centers that protect the welfare of children and older adults living in communities as well as provide emergency assistance for military troops and their families.
SAVES was one of 25 charities selected by Yard House corporate for the award. The charities, including food banks, emergency shelters and military support services, will benefit from the more than $320,000 raised by guests who generously "rounded up" their checks while dining at Yard House during the last 12 months.
Yard House also granted $75,000 to Operation Homefront, a national organization that provides emergency financial assistance, counseling, and recovery support to the families of service members and wounded warriors. Amy Palmer, who heads the organization's San Antonio office, will make the pilgrimage from Texas to accept the donation on behalf of Operation Homefront.
Round It Up America® was founded by Yard House President and CEO Harald Herrmann along with Jennifer Weerheim, the company's vice president of marketing, The program has raised nearly $640,000 since its inception two years ago with 811,000 guests participating. The majority of non-profit organizations benefiting from Round It Up America® are located in communities where Yard House has locations.
