Wet Weather Causes Wild Ride On 14 Freeway
AV News staff report
ANTELOPE VALLEY - Snow caused several crashes today on the Antelope Valley Freeway between Newhall and Palmdale and forced chain restrictions to be imposed on some roads near Agua Dulce and Acton, the California Highway Patrol reported.

By mid-afternoon, rain had turned to moderate snow fall on portions of the 14 Freeway at Acton and light snowfall was seen on the Golden State (5) Freeway over the Grapevine, according to CHP officers in the area.

At about 12:45 p.m. snow reportedly caused two cars to spin out and crash on the AV Freeway near Agua Dulce road.

Then Los Angeles County road workers began enforcing chain requirements on San Francisquito, Bouquet Canyon and Spunky Canyon roads at 1 p.m.

Wednesday afternoon, Angeles Forest Highway between La Canada-Flintridge and Palmdale remained open without chain control. No restrictions were in effect on Big Pines Highway near Wrightwood.
