Man Killed On Treacherous Mountain Road

PALMDALE - The twisting and dangerous Angeles Forest Highway has claimed another life.


A 25-year-old man, missing since Sunday, was found dead Monday inside his car that had rolled off the side of the Angeles Forest Highway near Mt. Gleason Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.


The car was located at about 8:15 a.m. by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s helicopter that was retracing the man’s last known route.

 

Deputies, who were lowered down from the helicopter, pronounced the man dead, according the CHP report.

 

Sheriff’s deputies then notified the CHP that they had located the missing man. CHP officers arrived soon after and took over the investigation


The victim's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

 

The man’s yellow car had rolled about 100 feet down the mountainside and came to rest in an area burned by the 2009 Station Fire.
